I'm the International Editor at Videnskab.dk . I manage our English-language content and lead our partnership with The Conversation UK to connect Danish research with a global audience.
My background
I'm a UK-trained journalist with nearly 20 years' experience telling science and health stories across digital, audio, and broadcast platforms.
Before joining Videnskab.dk as International Editor, I was Deputy Editor of the BBC's Audio Science Unit (2023–2025), making science and health podcasts and radio programs heard by millions around the world.
While there, I led a BBC World Service collaboration in Malawi, taking a team of producers to record a series of science and health programmes. Somewhere along the way, I ended up assisting in a dog castration, an unexpected career highlight!
Before that, I spent eight years at The Conversation (2015-2023), the global science news site, where I edited hundreds of research-based articles and trained academics to write like journalists. As Special Projects Editor, I managed editorial partnerships, launched series, and worked on the site's podcast output.
And before that, I predominantly worked freelance across broadcast and print journalism.
I studied Psychology, English, and European Cinema at the University of Liverpool (BA, 2009), followed by a Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast News Journalism at Cardiff University in Wales (2011).
My subject areas
I cover all areas of science and health journalism with a focus on interdisciplinary research and its impact on everyday life.
I'm particularly passionate about:
Psychology and medical research, especially where it affects public understanding, care systems, or women's health.
Environmental science, including biodiversity, food systems, and sustainability.
Gender and equity in research, highlighting underrepresented voices.
Curious or quirky stories that make readers rethink and see the world differently.
My journalistic approach
I believe science journalism should be accessible, accurate, and engaging - science belongs to everyone, not just academics. Good science journalism connects curiosity with context, and rigor with relevance, and that's what I aim to do every day in my commissioning and editing.
Clarity, creativity, and compassion guide my editorial work. I also champion underrepresented voices, having helped deliver 50:50 gender representation at the BBC and led diversity initiatives at The Conversation.
Above all, I care about making knowledge accessible and giving audiences a reason to care about content.
Contact me
I'm always open to new ideas, formats, and contributors. If you're a researcher in Denmark with a story to tell or you're working on something you think deserves wider attention, I'd love to hear from you.
